ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

AUTHOR'S NOTE

Thank you for visiting the USS OAKLAND World Wide Website. The author of  this website is: Paul D. Henriott, CWO, USA, Ret. Yes!! you read it right  UNITED STATES ARMY RETIRED.

When I logged on the Internet the first thing that I did was search for the USS  OAKLAND CL 95. Well needless to say I had no luck in my search. The next  thing I did was put all the names of the crew from the information that Alfred  Greenway and I had, into the computer. When this was done, I checked each  crew member's name in the online telephone book for their proper address and  phone number. Then one thing lead to another and finally I created a roster of the  crew in the website. Still I am no good at typing and there will be mistakes. So  please let me know about them. I hope you enjoy it and with everyone's help  make it better and find more ship mates.

As of 26 February 1997, I am happy to say that you can find the USS Oakland
on the Internet Search Directories on all but one and I am working on that.

THE GOOD PEOPLE OF THE INTERNET

I am always surprised were the help may come from. That shows you just how  good the people on the internet are in extending a helping hand.

A SPECIAL THANKS TO MY DEAR FRIENDS
THAT REALLY WANTED TO HELP WITH THIS WEBSITE

SPECIAL HONOR AND THANKS TO
USS OAKLAND'S SWEETHEART

julie
JULIE ANDERSEN OF TOOELE, UTAH
Webmistress Of SweetMemories Gallery

I am making an exception in Julie's case on displaying her photograph. I would
like to honor Julie for the lovely graphics and awards that she gave to us. I have  learned that Julie is no longer on the internet. I am sorry to hear this as Julie's  website was one of the best on the WWW. She has found a job and won't have  the time to maintain her site and be online. I wish you the very best my dear Julie.

A special thanks for the MEMORIAL to all our decease crew members and the  SweetMemories Patriotic Award which you designed especially for the USS  OAKLAND. It is proud to be the first recipient of this Patriotic award.

 MICHAEL, ANDRE, AND ELLEN BROCK
THANK YOU

This man wanted to help get the word out to the Oakland community about the  USS OAKLAND. Nothing is more important to a website or a ship's memory
than getting everyone to know about it and where it is located. Here is the young  man that wants to do just that. He is a real hard worker with young legs and
ideas. Who wants to get the USS OAKLAND known to all the people of the  Oakland area. If his plans continue at the present speed (Which is full speed  ahead). That will be done come this 4th of July 1999. He should be the pride of  the city of OAKLAND and the cruiser USS OAKLAND CL/CLAA-95.

THIS E-MAIL STARTED IT ALL

Dear Mr. Henriott, I was born in 1949 in Oakland, California, as were both my  parents who taught me a great sense of pride for the City of Oakland and it's  police force since many members of my family belonged to O.P.D. I would like
to thank you for your web site on the U.S.S. Oakland it makes me proud to have  been born there and if you ever are looking for new members please let know.

Michael Brock

SHIPMATES AND MILITARY RETIRED

Chaplain (Captain) GEORGE MARTIN, CHC, USN, Retired

He has taken on the Chaplain duties at my request. He did a wonderful piece of color work on the 55th Annviersary message for USS Atlanta and USS Juneau.
If you haven't visited the Memorial Website please do so right now.

Rohde
DONALD T. ROHDE CDR USN Ret (SC) USN
PLANKOWNER SUPPLY OFFICER USS OAKLAND (CL-95)

If you haven't visited these two Memorial Webpages please do so now.

I would also like to thank Donald T. Rohde CDR USN Ret (SC) USN  Plankowner Supply Officer USS OAKLAND (CL-95) for his assistance in the above Memorial webpages. They would not have turned out as good as they did without the wonderful documents that he authored. He made my Memorial webpage creation a lot easier. Don and his lovely wife, Reggie, are always very involved when it comes to helping on getting ready for the reunions or anything  else that has to be done for the Oakland.

MEMORIAL TO ADMIRAL WILLIAM KEARNEY PHILLIPS USN

Thanks to Robert L. Cole and family for the images
of the Mausoleum in Sherman, Texas.

Thanks to Lawrence J. Reilly MCGM, USN, Ret
for the history of USS Oakland.

Thanks to Alfred M. Greenway who got me started on a combined roster. But, when I completed it, I had to keep it some place. So, what a better place than
on the World Wide Web.

George J. Werner, ATCS, USN, (Ret)

I would like to acknowledge the help of George J. Werner who volunteered to be  editor. I never met George but he is willing to help get the job done right. I hope  someday to meet you and thank you personally. George is retired NAVY. Was an  ARM2/c in WWII, and retired in '66 as an ATCS. Flew in all Navy multi-engined  patrol planes from the PBY-PBM thru P2V-7 and P3-A. "As far  as I know,
when I retired, I was the only active duty aviation radioman left from  WW2,
with a Navy Speed Key Certificate, in the Atlantic Fleet." says George. What a  fine gentleman and editor. He saved me a lot time that I was able to spent  elsewhere on this project.
