In
memory
of my brother,
Leonard Foster Mason, PFC US Marine Corps World War II
who died July 23, 1944 during enemy action on Guam. He was awarded the
Medal of Honor. USS Leonard F. Mason was
commissioned
in 1946. It was the rescue ship that
picked
up Neal Armstrong and David Scott when Gemini 8 splashed down in the
Pacific Ocean.

Buried
at Sea
Buried at
Sea Oh South Pacific Ocean,
Thy depth I do not know
But o'er a precious loved one
Thy blue waters ever flow.
However
great thy depth may be
Our love goes deeper yet.
Though long we live upon this earth
We never shall forget.
He
volunteered to go and fight,
Along with many others.
They bade goodbye to loved ones dear,
To fathers and to mothers.
Thousands
died on foreign soil
And many died
at sea,
That freedom's
flag might ever wave
O'er the land
of liberty.
In our
hearts there's a silent prayer,
Now that the battle has
been
won,
May he not have died in vain
Our beloved brother and son.
