A
Memorial To Robert Edward Denega,
QM3c,
Plank Owner, USS OAKLAND CL-95
United States Navy World
War II

Dear
Mr. Henriott,
A few months ago I came across
your website and was moved to
tears. It is absolutely beautiful, a wonderful tribute to
those
who served our country in WWII and beyond. This had been my
father's ship from July 1, 1943, until he was discharged on April 9,
1946. I had given you his name, but it seems to have been omitted from
your improved website list.
He had
fond memories of the USS Oakland, and of a group of men he
called the
"Unholy 17." I never tired of his naval stories.
Unfortunately, my father passed
away in 1978. If you need any more
information, please let me
know. I would like him added to your crew roster. It
would
mean a lot to him and to my children. They never got to meet my
father, but they have heard many stories. My mother
passed
away in 1997, and now I am the keeper of the pictures and the
memories. Your website will help
my children understand a little
bit more about my father's younger days and his service to our
country. Thank you again for your beautiful website. The
time you spent on this is
incredible. The pictures are
outstanding. Like my father, I am proud to be an
American.
Thank you, Dawn Denega Kohorst

This is my gift to:
Lillian "Lynn" Duca
Denega and Robert
Edward Denega's
family members on the 25 anniversary of Robert's
death.
I would like to thank
Robert Edward Denega
for his service to our country in preserving it's
freedoms.
May he and all our departed
shipmates rest in eternal peace.
