INFORMATION
The Dispatch Center is located at 815 Madison Street Rochester, Indiana within the Sheriff's Department. All phone calls and radio communications are filtered through the Communications Center. Two Tele-Communications officers are on duty at all times.
Fulton County Tele-Communications personnel are highly trained. All officers are required to be certified in IDACS/NCIC , providing access to both state and federal information data banks. Each are certified in CPR and Emergency Medical Dispatch so they may provide to callers pre-arrival medical instructions while help is on the way. Dispatchers are responsible not only for police calls but also dispatch for EMS and Fire calls.
HOW DO
I USE 9-1-1 ?
If you call from a phone in Fulton County, pick up the phone wait for a dial tone and then dial 9-1-1. You do not have to deposit a coin in a pay phone.
When you reach the emergency dispatcher, describe the emergency and answer all the questions.
Stay calm- Do not hang up. Stay on the telephone until directed otherwise.Although the screen automatically displays the telephone number and location the dispatcher may ask you to verify the information. Staying on the telephone will avoid delays. If you hang up and redial your call will be answered in the order in which it was received.
PLEASE REMEMBER: 9-1-1 IS AN EMERGENCY NUMBER AND SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR NON-EMERGENCY PURPOSE. Abuse of 9-1-1 may delay someone else's access to emergency assistance.
WHEN
DO I CALL 9-1-1 ?
If someone is breaking into your home now, or breaking into a neighbor's home.
A shooting
To report fire
A traffic accident involving injury
A person screaming
A person choking
A fight or display of weapons
If a person is hurt and needs medical attention.
To report someone that is going to hurt or is already hurting someone else.
In an emergency. An emergency is any situation that to preserve life or property requires immediate response by police, fire or emergency medical agencies.
WHEN
DO I NOT CALL 9-1-1 ?
To report telephone, power or cable television outages.
To report a loud party, or a pet related problem.
To request road or weather information.
To request legal advise.
As a joke.
To request or provide any information that does not need immediate attention.
WHAT IF I
DIAL 9-1-1 BY MISTAKE ?
If you hang up a 9-1-1 dispatcher will get the call.
They will call you back and will also send a police officer
to
the address from which the call originated to determine if a problem exist.
