Dear Golfer:

The 2016 Golf Season is still several months away but I want to take this opportunity to invite you to participate in the Seventh Annual Round Barn Girls Spring Invitational.

When the IHSAA Boys High School Golf season is underway during the spring, competitive playing opportunities for young ladies are difficult to locate within the state of Indiana.  Then, when summer arrives, there are a tremendous number of quality events in which to participate.  The Indiana Junior Tour Summer Golf Schedule is truly an awesome coordination of events and participation is very reasonably priced.  However, being prepared when the Girls State Junior takes place in early June is difficult.  The Round Barn Girls Invitational is, without question, the best way to jump start the season, identify deficiencies, and gear up for the really important Summer events

This event is intended to jump start the season and give you something to look forward to prior to the Indiana Junior Tour Summer Golf Schedule much like the Hoosier Junior Championship has extended the season in the fall.  It is a 36 hole, stroke play event conducted at the Round Barn Golf Club where young ladies can compete against a quality field on a challenging layout of approximately 6000 yards all at a very reasonable price. This event is already establishing a tradition of producing tremendous champions (Kristi Cardwell 2009, Kelly Grassel 2010, Paige Crafton 2011, Katie Sharp 2012, Kelly Grassel 2013, Alexis Miestowski 2014, Elyse Stasil 2015), solid fields, and enjoyable competition for all participants.   The yardage is very suitable for mention at the collegiate level and even those who have not fared well have commented on the challenge and importance of identifying weaknesses in their game as well as the importance it has played in helping prepare them for the summer season.  I was impressed with the number of young ladies who played in our event last season and then made it to the IHSAA State Finals in October.  In addition, the event is included in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings system and I will be investigating the possibility of an AJGA exemption in 2016.

I would like the event to one day evolve into a fun weekend in Rochester and one that golfers such as yourself will look forward to participating in on an annual basis.   Currently, we are just anticipating a nice “golf” weekend.  We have 2 practice greens, two practice bunkers, a recently renovated and nearly completed pitching area as well as a 15 station driving range tee.  I have included unlimited range balls for those golfers who may be staying in town and would like to take some extra time to tune up their game. I have also kept open the possibility of a small presentation / discussion on the 5 factors that influence ball flight Saturday evening if a significant number of golfers will be remaining in town and would enjoy the opportunity to gain a better understanding of why the ball moves the way it does.

Every golfer knows testing your game, enjoying the outdoors, and fellowshipping with other golfers, family, and friends is an atmosphere that cannot be duplicated elsewhere.  I believe this will be a nice primer for the upcoming season and I reiterate my desire to see you involved in the competition!

Sincerely,

Lyle Lingenfelter
