How To Be Effective For Christ

Pastor Tom Butterfield from Manchester, Michigan, asked two questions: "What do you think are the top two or three things needed today to be the most effective for Christ?" and "How do we implement these things in our lives?"

Be useable

Have a real desire to serve the Lord.

Put Christ first in all you do.

Do not get involved with any kind of sin and make it a part of your life.

Do not allow yourself to be put where you might fall into sin.

When you do sin confess it and make it right.

Be faithful

Decide that you are going to be real.

Present yourself as "what you see is what you get" and then try to be the best Christian you can be.

Pray for God's power in your life and pray that the Lord will make you to be faithful.

Be spiritual

Be what God wants you to be, go where God wants you to go, and do what God wants you to do.

(This might mean staying right where you are at -- you accomplish more by ministering in one place year after year.)

Study the Bible, run with the right crowd, pray faithfully, and share the message found in the Scriptures.

Do not major on the minors.

Be submissive to the Lord and be willing to listen to and work with others.

Pastor Thomas Butterfield went to be with the Lord in 2002. He was a faithful pastor, a useable servant, and a spiritual man even in difficult times. May God bless his memory. This page is dedicated to him.
