So you want to know a little more about
the person that created this sprawling and amazingly large world? I will
do the best I can to enlighten you. You will find many linked phrases throughout
this bio, if you go to one, you will need to click the back button on your
browser to return to this page.
As you must
have decided by now if you spent any time at all surfing the various sections
of my site, I like a lot of different things, animal, human, and mechanical
(namely computers). I am not your typical 'computer geek' in that I never
touched a computer until 5 years ago. My first one was an IBM P/S 2 (yes,
I know, *giggle* I can hear all of my computer literate friends groaning!).
I am at present working on a Pentium II 450 Micron with ALL the goodies.
Came up a lot in the world *grin*, didn't I.
I love creating my own websites and graphics.
Of course, being fairly new at this (I started in March 1998) you will find
graphics that are simply amazing and then the mediocore stuff that is mostly
the oldest stuff on my site. You can definitely tell the difference. I presently
use several different programs, including Adobe Photoshop, Micrografx Picture
Publisher, Simply 3-D (although I prefer to animate things in the Picture
Publisher, keeps the file sizes down that way), Hot Dog Pro, and Adobe Pagemill
for my web page designs. I am getting a lot better, probably because when
I sit down to create things I get lost in my own little world and can spend
ten hours working and not notice that that much time has gone by. Can put
a little stress on things sometimes *smile*.
I am a Gemini which might possibly account for the huge
diversity you find when you visit my website. I am presently working on
developing five distintly different sites. The first and possibly my favorite,
being a devoted lover of science fiction and fantasy, is my 'Dragon Den'.
This site is strictly for the dragon-lovers and medieval explorers amoung
us. I also have a small Star
Trek site showcasing 'The Next Generation' (TNG). I am definitely
a 'trekker'! I will be working on a site dedicated to helping one and all
soon. keep your eyes open for that one (hint).
I am a voracious reader and have an extensive library.
Most of my library is devoted to my first love, science fiction and fantasy,
but I also a good collection of self-help books (favorite author in this
group is definitely Dale Carnegie). I also have all of Stephen King's and
Dean Koontz's books, and a smattering of old world books mostly about ancient
Indian history, and some medieval history.
I have an intense dislike for those that set their aim
in this world to hurt others or cause trouble to others. I have personally
experienced domestic abuse at the hands of a rather mananical boyfriend
who essentially held me and my two small children prisoner for almost four
years before we managed to get away from him. I came through this experience
alive (obviously) and with an intense desire to help others in trouble and
thus help wherever I can, when I can, whomever I can. There are others around
us at all times that can use help if you just really look at the people
that you interact with on a daily basis. I always say to fix up your own
backyard first (sorry, I like metaphors *grin*).
On a more personal note, I am now married
for the past seven years to a wonderfully mellow musicman. He owns his own
recording studio and we both are constantly surrounded by other
young musicians that help keep us young. Some of them, including the 'Datman'
(my hubbie) are very good. Lots of original songs around here.
I am the mother of three wonderful, not
so small anymore, children. All three on them are over 6 feet tall now (no
kidding). My oldest is 23, and an artist himself, you will find many of
his drawings on my dragon/medieval site. He is also helping
to develop a new type of RPG game called Jadestone that has yet to make its debut. He is married
to a wonderful girl that is like a daughter to me. She also makes a great
big sis for the next one of my children, my beautiful and very SMART 17
year old daugther. Top ten in her school almost all the time, she is the
soon-to-be veternarian/micro-biologist in our family. If I can keep the
boys away from her! Then comes my youngest, a computer addicted 14 year
old boy. If you are ever in Battle.net or Ultima Online you probably have
met this one. If I can keep him off the computer long enough to do his homework,
he might become a programmer himself one of these days. I also have a wonderful
step-son and his fiance (oh, another daughter!) that are here quite often.
All-in-all, our families have blended quite well.
We live in a small mid-western town and
have had to become used to mid-west winters (since we were all raised here)
but hope to move to Tennesse one day soon. We bought lakefront property
on Norris Lake a few years ago and hope to build a home there and move to
it within the next 5 years (have to get the youngest out of school here
first). I love Tennesse. I lived there for about three years and at times,
wish I were there now (especially when it is 0 and snowing *growl*). Sharing
our home here in the mid-west though, is two beagles, an amazon parrot,
a cockatiel, lots of fish (I love aquariums), and whichever of the kids
friends are spending the night on any particular day. We have a houseful
most of the time, but we all have our own space, so we get along.
I have a best friend for really the first time in my
life and guess where I met her! Right here online! Imagine, we met each
other online and after talking for a few weeks realized that we lived in
the same town. Imagine our surprise when we finally met IRL and found out
that we live 3 blocks apart and our daughters work at the same place. Life
is definitely full of surprises, isn't it. And sometimes things are just
fated to happen. Anyway, through my friend, whose online name is Running DeerWolf, I got involved
in a wonderful group of women on the 'Net. The group is called Crone~Wise Woman~Elder
because it is composed of women over 40. Running DeerWolf created the site
that this group of wise and wonderful women belong to and we are all forever
grateful that she did.
At present, I work at a foundry as a QS 9000
Coordinator in the quality department. I hope to evenutally become a computer
tech fulltime. I do some computer stuff
for other people on the side now and also some website design. I have been
taking classes at a local college for 2 years now off and on, but most of
my computer knowledge has come from learning on my own. I also have aspirations
to be a writer and am writing online in a interactive story called the [Rosehaven]
thread at Alt.Dragon's
Inn. Definitely the place for a would be writer. I also a collection
of poetry
online that isn't too bad.
I suppose that any goals I have in life
right now are almost as sprawling as my website is. I don't think I am going
into get that right now (whew huh :) but maybe some other time. For now,
please go and enjoy the diversity I have created in my own little world
online. I guarantee you won't get bored for a while! And thanks for stopping
by!
