“Walk
the Walk” 2007
Hope Hospice would like to thank all those who
supported the first annual “Walk the Walk for Hope Hospice”. We had
about 50 men, women and children there for a 2.7 mile walk. Our goal was to raise
awareness for Hope Hospice and remember loved ones lost. Due to the generosity
of our community, we were able to achieve these goals. I would like to thank
the companies that sponsored our annual walk: O&R Buildings, First Federal
Savings Bank, NIPSCO, Towne Home Furnishings,
A special thanks goes out to Team Pride, Fine
Things, Jarrety’s, Fulton County Massage Clinic, Dr. Fritts, Pizza Hut,
Webb’s Radio Shack, and Superior Sample, Dairy Queen and Hoffman Quality
Graphics for supplying the prizes for our walkers on Saturday.
Our water was supplied by Jimmy Downs and Culligan,
and held by water coolers supplied by Coach Miller and the Rochester Athletic
Department. All those thirsty walkers thank you. The use of a golf cart was
provided by the Mill Creek Golf Course.
The backpacks handed out as door prizes contained items
from numerous local businesses. We thank you.

“Walk
the Walk” Devotion
A father had been battling
a debilitating disease for many years. The family asked the Lord to take him
home. But as the son knelt by his bed and watched him take that last breath,
the tears he had choked back on other occasions came out like a flood. As his
brothers and his mother hugged and prayed, the finality was overwhelming.
That event helped him
understand the significance of the shortest verse in the Bible: "Jesus wept" (John
When someone we love dies,
we struggle with a wide range of emotions. If a young person dies, we ask
"Why?" When death comes after long-term suffering, we struggle to
understand why the Lord waited so long to bring relief. We begin to think of
God as distant, untouched by our sorrow. We may question His wisdom or His
goodness. Then we read, "Jesus
wept." God is deeply touched by our anguish.
When a painful situation
invades your life, remember the Bible's shortest verse. Jesus shed tears too.
If you doubt that Jesus cares, remember His tears.
