AUTHOR'S NOTE

Thank you for visiting the USS OAKLAND World Wide Website. The author of this website is: Paul D. Henriott, CWO, USA, Ret. Yes!! you read it right UNITED STATES ARMY RETIRED.

When I logged on the Internet the first thing that I did was search for the USS OAKLAND CL-95. Well needless to say I had no luck in my search. The next thing I did was put all the names of the crew from the information that Alfred Greenway and I had, into the computer. When this was done, I checked each crew member's name in the online telephone book for their proper address and phone number. Then one thing lead to another and finally I created a roster of the crew in the website. Still I am no good at typing and there will be mistakes. So please let me know about them. I hope you enjoy it and with everyone's help make it better and find more ship mates.

As of 26 February 1997, I am happy to say that you can find the USS Oakland on the Internet Search Directories on all but one and I am working on that.

THE GOOD PEOPLE OF THE INTERNET

MICHAEL, ANDRE, AND ELLEN BROCK
THANK YOU

This man wanted to help get the word out to the Oakland community about the USS OAKLAND. Nothing is more important to a website or a ship's memory than getting everyone to know about it and where it is located. Here is the young man that wants to do just that. He is a real hard worker with young legs and ideas. Who wants to get the USS OAKLAND known to all the people of the Oakland area. If his plans continue at the present speed (Which is full speed ahead). That will be done come this 4th of July 1999. He should be the pride of the city of OAKLAND and the cruiser USS OAKLAND CL/CLAA-95.

THIS E-MAIL STARTED IT ALL

Dear Mr. Henriott, I was born in 1949 in Oakland, California, as were both my parents who taught me a great sense of pride for the City of Oakland and it's police force since many members of my family belonged to O.P.D. I would like to thank you for your web site on the U.S.S. Oakland it makes me proud to have been born there and if you ever are looking for new members please let know.

Michael Brock
