Robert served as a Judge and public official. Occupation was as a farmer.

Daniel Goble, Robert, Jonas, Jemima and Alice, while resident in Hunterdon Co. (Morris) NJ on Sept. 20, 1734 executed a deed to lands in Lancaster Worcester Co. Mass, which they had inherited from their mother Sarah Houghton Goble, wife of Daniel Goble(3). (See Worcester District Deeds, Book 7, p.259) This deed connects the Gobles of Morristown NJ. with the Goble's of Charlestown, Mass.*

Robert Goble(4) and Jonas Goble, on June 8 1752 the Piscataway Church (Morris Co.) dismissed a number of its members, among them Robert and his wife Mary and Deacon Jonas Goble and wife
Malatiah. They with a number of other people including several Gobles organized and constituted the
Baptist Church in Morristown, Aug 11, 1752.

On June 21, 1769 Ezekiel Goble was selected vestryman and in June 1772 Ephraim Goble was chosen clerk.

(See History of Morris Co. NJ (1888)p.138)

*Robert Goble was appointed Justice of the Peace for Morris County March 28 1749, again December 21, 1756 and again April 30, 1768. Justices of the Peace were also County Judges. In 1775 the Governor of the Colony appointed him to register friendly Indians. (See NJ Archives Vol.16p91,p.572 and Vol.24,p.603 and 658.)

*Washington established a winter camp near Morristown, NJ in the early part of the Revolution, and
this camp included a part of the farms of Robert Goble and Jonas Goble. A map of the camp made in 1780 by Emory McClintock shows the location of the homes of these two Gobles. The Local History Librarian of the Joint Free Public Library of Morristown and Morris Township have a copy of this map. One of the homes was still standing and occupied in 1947.

See Dorothy Hand Dymond Book, page 174 - 178.

magistrate in Morristown) was the son of said David Goble. Robert was born in England, except date not know here by us; family tradition) Said that he was about 10 or 12 years old when he left England, or when he came with his father to Morristown New Jersey - who he married, or when - can't say - have no record. (that he had a good wife - I am witnefs having seen grand mother Goble at her home when I was 5 or 6 years old) grand Father Robert had a large family 16 children - the oldest a female but mostly sons - my father Jacob (the first of this ____) was the youngest but one of his father's family - he had a brother George younger then he." Provided by Archie Keith (11) Goble, Ontario Canada, Sep 1996. Jacob Goble was not aware of Robert's true birthplace or of his ancestry. EAS
