Pfc. Leonard F. Mason, USMC
USS Leonard F. Mason (DD-852), a Gearing-class destroyer, was commissioned on 28 June 1946. She was christened on 4 January 1946 by Mrs. Hillery Mason, mother of Leonard Mason, at the Quincy Yard of the Bethlehem Steel Company. After 2 decades of faithful service, USS Leonard F. Mason was stricken from the Naval Vessel Register on 2 November 1976 and subsequently transferred to Taiwan in January of 1978, where she remains in service to this date as Shuei-Yang (926).
The most recent USS Leonard F. Mason Reunion was held September 24-27, 1997, in Lima, Ohio!
