This was a sad day for the crew of the USS OAKLAND.

George Sherwood Allard S2C loader,
suffered fracture, simple, left
ulna during the accident.







Wentworth George Wall S2c 888 32 02, USNR
loader, suffered extreme multiple injuries
died three minutes after the accident occured.



William Louis Walker S2c 379 29 37 USN
suffered extreme multiple injuries
died twenty minutes after accident occured



Burial at sea ceremonies were conducted on the follow day.
It was a very moving ceremony for us young sailors.
